In the Pixel 2 launcher, Google search widget under the dock is not by default on the Nova Launcher. You can also attach additional widgets, but you need to enable first. The latest feature and some previous features are in beta trial. It means that the features are not well-built of Nova Launcher now. If you want to use these features, then you have to download the updated Nova Launcher beta.
Press and hold the empty space on the Nova Launcher home-screen. Click on Settings option. Now, select the Dock and tap on the Dock Search bar. Apart from the stock Pixel 2 launcher, a Nova feature allows you to put the search bar over the icons in the vertical dock. You can Select Above icons or Below icons as per your wish. After that, the search bar comes in the dock, above or below the icons. You can also hide dock in the Pixel 2 launcher.
Till now we were discussing the previous features of the Launcher. Here is the use of the latest Nova Launcher beta which allows you to displace the search bar in the dock. Tap and hold the dock search widget, and a drop-down menu arrives. Click on Replace and a menu of possible 41 widgets appears. Select widget of your choice to move dock the Google search widget. The features are easier for the Google Chrome users as they can instantly put the Chrome search widget in the dock. It is a way shortcut for the Chrome.
A few weeks back, TelsaCoil Software released an update that added the search widget to the dock as found on the Pixel 2 lineup. Unlike the stock launcher with the Pixel 2 and 2 XL, Nova made the search widget optional so you could stick with the older dock design if you wanted. But now, they've improved on this feature by increasing the available widgets that can be placed in this position, so any 4 x 1 widget can be added to the expanded dock for easy access.
If you wish to replicate the look of the Pixel 2 and 2 XL, choose "Below icons." However, if you want your new widget above the current icons found in the dock, choose "Above icons." Once selected, return to the home screen to see the newly expanded dock with the search widget.
By default, a Google search widget will now be placed in the newly-expanded dock, but you can use any widget of your choosing. So long-press the search widget to bring up a sub-menu, then select the "Replace" option.
Nova continues to lead the charge with its home screen launcher by adding the latest features of Android. Not only did they add the customize widgets into the docks, but they updated the sub-menu to match the look found in Android 8.1 Oreo and added Adaptive icons to the stable version of Nova (these features were previously found in the beta version). Nova's quick ability to not only add new features but include additional functionality is one of the main reasons it made the top spot on our home screen launcher comparison. Long-press an empty space on the Nova Launcher home-screen and select Settings. Here, select Dock and then tap on Searchbar in dock. Unlike the stock Pixel 2 launcher, Nova allows you with an option to place the search bar above the icons as well. Select Above icons or Below icons depending on your preference.
Nova Launcher allows users to customize the dock in many ways. You can make use of the features that allow you to replace the search bar in the dock with a widget of another application. This feature is quite handy, especially if you want to access in-app features with one click. Follow the steps below to activate this feature:
Start by long-pressing the search widget at the top of your home screen. From there, select "Edit" on the popup, then choose the rounded option under Bar Style and the colorful "G" logo under Logo Style. When you're done there, press the check mark, then long-press the widget on your home screen and drag it down to the empty spot you've created on your dock (where the icons you moved in Steps 2 and 3 once were).
Smart Launcher's flower grid is still available, but it's joined by a number of other well thought-out layouts designed to keep your favorite apps within easy reach of one hand, while smart search and an intelligently sorted and customizable app drawer makes it easy to find whatever you need, whether on your phone or out in the web. Adaptive icons and colors, fully resizable widgets, and more customizations round out the package, making for a great update to a classic launcher.
While AIO Launcher is free, in-app purchases unlock other features such as widget support, app icons, and Android notifications in the home screen stream. It's not the friendliest interface out there among the best Android launchers, it's still an interesting choice if information density isn't a turn-off for you.
